Support for the Person Behind the Performance
Sport can bring purpose, connection, and a strong sense of identity. It can also come with pressure, self-doubt, setbacks, burnout, and the feeling that your worth depends on your results. Performance counselling supports both your mental wellbeing and the psychological demands of pursuing ambitious goals.
My approach draws primarily from cognitive behavioural therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy. Together, we can work on patterns affecting confidence, focus, and performance while building a more flexible response to pressure, difficult emotions, and setbacks.
As an elite middle-distance runner, I’ve represented Team Canada internationally and won national titles. I’ve also experienced disappointing races, uncertainty, and periods when progress did not come easily. That combination of clinical training and lived experience helps me understand the world athletes operate in and support stronger mental performance without losing sight of wellbeing and life beyond sport.
What We Can Work On
Support can be tailored to your sport, level of competition, and the challenges you are currently facing.
Performance Anxiety & Pressure
Manage competition nerves, expectations, fear of failure, and the pressure to perform when it matters most.
Confidence & Self-Doubt
Build a more stable sense of confidence and respond differently to mistakes, comparison, and critical self-talk.
Focus & Mental Preparation
Develop routines and strategies that support concentration, adaptability, and readiness for training and competition.
Motivation, Burnout & Balance
Reconnect with what matters, recognize signs of burnout, and pursue ambitious goals in a more sustainable way.
Injury, Setbacks & Return to Sport
Navigate the emotional impact of injury, interrupted progress, disappointing results, and the uncertainty of returning.
Identity & Transitions
Work through changes in role, level, team, career, or retirement while building a sense of self that extends beyond performance.
You don’t have to be an elite athlete to benefit.
Performance counselling can support athletes at any level, from recreational and developing competitors to those performing nationally or internationally.
